Cracked structural analysis tools may run calculations but produce outputs that are off by critical tolerances. What looks like professional work on screen is being computed on a foundation of broken code.

The Business Software Alliance estimated that the commercial value of unlicensed software installed in Nigeria alone exceeded USD $287 million in a single year. That is not a number representing savings. - Over 640 building collapses recorded in Nigeria from October 1974 to January 2025.
- 62 collapses in 2022 alone. 52 in 2023. 47 in 2024. As of October 2025, 37 had already occurred.
- Lagos State accounts for 55% of all recorded incidents nationwide.
- A 2024 Lagos State Building Control Agency report found that 40% of ongoing construction projects lacked proper approvals or had documented structural concerns.
These are not distant statistics. In 2024, there were 47 recorded collapses spread across 14 Nigerian states. Lagos led with 13 incidents. Abuja had 6. The Kubwa collapse in the Federal Capital Territory struck a residential area. Schools, homes, offices — no category of building has been spared.
